EclipseCon, Erlang, Early flights, and ERRRRussssell Brand

Murphees Rant - Werner Schuster - March 03, 2007

Hey… where did that infinite group of monkeys go? I hired them to keep this blog filled with wisdom, but seems like they got a better gig. Anyway, I‘m off to San Francisco to EclipseCon07. At least I hope I am; the wind here seems to know about my travel plans and has started carrying roofs, cows, and occasionally myself across the streets of Illinois. Well… I guess that‘s actually useful for planes, I guess… but let‘s see.
Actually, traveling won‘t be any fun either, since my travelin‘ footwear has decided to snuff it, and now I have a choice of sneakers or my usual boots. Sneakers would badly americanize me, but the alternative is a very bad idea indeed, since those boots were made for walkin‘, tiptoeing over nails and kicking down trees, but not for sidling through metal detectors. In a time when beverages are considered lethal weapons, a grumpy, black clad guy wearing shoes containing more steel than a modern plane just has to be suspicious.
So… if you happen to encounter me tomorrow, excuse the fashion faux pas, I can‘t help it.

To make this boring tale about my traveling woes worth your while, let me present you with a link: Programming Erlang  Yep, it‘s a book on Erlang, but the most impressive thing is the publisher: The Pragmatic Programmers. Let the speculations about possible implications commence…

Oyyy, blimey! It‘s the weekend, and that makes me throw in another freebie, someone I recently discovered:
Russell Brand on BBC 2 You can either use the BBC‘s “Listen Again” to listen to the current week‘s show, or subscribe to the podcast version, which is basically the show minus music.
In short: if you ever felt a need to have your recalcitrant contrafibularities resuscitated, Russell‘s the guy to do it.
